I hope you’re all prepared to let the waterworks fly. If you’re not in a place where you can do that, you may want to save this post for later.
I can’t imagine a harder thing to do than deciding on, and following through with a euthanasia date for a furry, loved, and equally loving family member. The photos below are taken from Duke’s last day with his family, and they did it right.
Duke got to eat hamburgers, he got to laugh and play with his family, he got to play at a water park, and it all ended with a sunny sleep in the park. I can’t even contain the tears as I write this.
All photos were taken by Robyn Arouty, a photographer and dog rescuer, and her full account-titled “I Died Today”-of Duke’s last day can be found on her blog. She also did a follow-up post a few months later.
Here are just a few of the photos, but please visit Robyn’s blog for more.
Lastly, here’s Duke’s adoption video from a few years ago. Good-bye, Duke! The world loves you for contributing so much love, happiness, and companionship! Thanks for making it a better place!
